Just got my first ticket. I was pulling out of church around 8:40 after helping with our VBS. My dad wanted me home at 9 so I set waze for my house (we just moved a week or so ago so I haven’t gotten the fastest way down yet) and pulled out of the parking lot. The road my church is on is 2 lane and 35 mph zone. Jerky McJerkface rounds corner a couple hundred feet before church exit going about 55 as I am pulling out into the middle of the street, so I have to speed up to avoid getting hit. He barely slows down at all so I end up going about 55 as well. As soon as I get completely in the lane I start braking. Waze then gives me weird directions so I glance down for a fraction of a second. By the time I look back up and then at the speedometer and realize how fast I’m going (49), I see the cop waiting for me about a couple hundred feet down the road on the other side of the church exit and I know I won’t be able to slow down enough in time (I wouldn't have been able to even if I hadn't glanced at my phone either). As soon as he puts on his headlights I take the L and put on my blinker and turn into the street right by where he was waiting. He was very indifferent, kinda seemed like he was just counting the days til his retirement (he was an older guy), but he was nice enough not to fine me for improper display for a Tennessee vols sticker I had on my plate. Mandatory court date is August 11 and he said as long as I don’t get another ticket within 6-9 mos then this one will be dismissed from my record since I’m a minor and a first offender. It’s probably going to be a bunch of money plus however much court costs are, so there goes getting the new Xbox. Pissed with myself and Jerky McJerkface, who was probably laughing his ass off that I got stopped instead of him. Grrrrrr.

It was in a quiet suburb outside of town. They're narcs about speeding and I'm a minor.

Now it’s time for VTS (Vocational Traffic School)!

Sucks, got pulled over for 49 in a 35 once. Got out of the ticket but really had me kind of rattled (got out of ticket by basically inviting the cop to search my car/everything and making him feel like he put me through a lot of trouble) and threw my borrowed iPhone in the laundry with my pants... never a fun experience to feel so powerless and watched. Was pulling over before the undercover car had its lights on, there’s just something about an all black Crown Vic that is enough to compel you without the lights!

Cop was a decent guy though, and not getting the ticket is really a pretty good outcome. Did I mention that I didn’t have the registration?

Do any and all traffic infractions there require a court date when you’re a minor or something, or just speeding and asshattery-type offences?

I’ve been pulled over something around 20 times now. I currently have zero points on my license(been driving for 18 years now) and have never been above 3. Cops and Judges love me for reasons I don’t fully understand.

Son, I realize you’re setting a course for yourself as a career criminal, but it’s not too late to repent. If you pay your debt to society, and make amends with the great creator, there is hope to put you back on the straight and narrow.

Also, feel free to mix in a paragraph or two, or three, or four next time.

I was once driving some friends down the coast of California. And was too young to drive anyone under 21, my alternator began to fail about 5 miles from a relatives place so I decided to speed there rather than pull over and pay for a tow.

Just as im one intersection away from my destination two cops on harleys pull behind me, blah blah blah point was I get a ticket for underage passengers, no turn signal/unsafe lane changes, and 76 in a 55.

During the juvenile court experiance they ask why you were speeding etc, so i explained what happened and got a $170 ticket for speeding amd the rest dismissed. My point is, theres hope.

I think all of ‘em. Probably so kids can't hide it from their parents. At least one parent is required to go to court with them as well. I just texted my dad as soon as the cop went back to his car to run my stuff and told him what happened.

Not a bad policy at all imo. Just not how they did it where I was from when I was a kid, so a bit surprising to me.

Doubtful I would have liked it much when I was that age though. ;)

Linky doesnt matter if its a fair ticket or not......... just do WHATEVER you can to not get the points..... insurance rates and all that add up....... also the next ticket they write is a lot easier.......

the car insurance free ride doesnt last forever kid........ when its over you want to come out with reasonable rates........ it takes around 7 years for a ticket to “fall off” your record, even though itll still show up some places. five years for accidents, regardless of fault.... and your insurance rates dont START to drop till you hit 25........

You don’t have to speed up to “not get hit”. People will not hit your car for no reason. You may piss them off, but they are being unreasonable. Don’t worry about tickets. They happen. Go to court and argue about it, it helps.

I was just pulling out of a parking lot and they barely slowed down at all. I guess it was kind of a knee-jerk reaction in the heat of the moment. It all happened so quickly.

Yeah, I know the feeling of that pressure. But you can ignore it. They will hit their brakes. They won’t rear end you out of nowhere.

Accidents like that happen quite a bit here. Someone playing with their radio. Texting. Eating. Who knows what. They look away for a second and BAM!
